Urine Test
Components: A screen with reflex testing is the preferred method for ruling out propoxyphene exposure. For follow-up testing of a presumptive result, Propoxyphene and Metabolite, Urine (3003726) is preferred.
Propoxyphene is an analgesic structurally similar to methadone. Its metabolite, norpropoxyphene is also pharmacologically active. Toxic effects include nausea, vomiting, and progressive central nervous system depression. Peak serum level occurs two hours post oral dose, half-life is 8 to 24 hours.
