ANTI DNase B

Antideoxyribonuclease B ( Anti DNase B) antibodies are produced as a reaction to the enzyme Deoxyribonuclease released by streptococci. Detection of these antibodies provides a strong evidence in favour of current or past streptococcal infection. DNase B antibodies are detected in acute and convalescent serum samples primarily to diagnose Acute Rheumatic Fever and Acute Glomerulonephritis following infection with Group A streptococcus. This antibody develops later than Anti Streptolysin O (ASO) and is seen in majority of patients. In individuals presenting with skin infection, Anti DNase B is positive, while ASO may be normal.
