Manganese (Mn) testing is used to evaluate central nervous system symptoms similar to Parkinson disease in workers handling Mn compounds in mining and industry and also for the characterization of liver cirrhosis. It can also be used in the evaluation of Behcet disease. Manganese deficiency in humans is rare.

Preparation: Avoid Vitamins, Mineral Or Herbal Supplements One Week Prior To Specimen Collection. If Gadolinium Or Iodine Containing Contrast Media Has Been Administered, Specimen Should Not Be Collected For 96 Hours.
